We are in the 13th week of Ordinary Time and the word of the week is “Follow”
Happy Enrichment Week!
This week’s Prayer Intentions are…
- For Year 10 students taking their mock exams this week, that they may feel calm, confident and supported in all they do.
- For the whole of the Becket community during enrichment week, that it may be an enjoyable and fruitful time where we embrace every opportunity to live life to the full.
- For those affected by the earthquake in Venezuela, that they may find safety, receive the help they need and for those who are suffering or grieving that they receive healing.
Please keep these intentions in your prayers this week, and don’t forget to add any suggestions for prayer intentions in the comments box below.

There is no in person COTW this week.
Pilgrimage to Mass schedule:
Year 8 Mass – Monday 29th June – meet in the Hall/ Chapel at 9:05 for roll call
Year 9 Mass rehearsal for readers during form time in the chapel – Tuesday 30th July
Year 7 Mass rehearsal for readers during form time in the chapel – Wednesday 1st July
Year 9 Mass – Thursday 2nd July – meet in the Hall/ Chapel at 9:05 for roll call
Year 7 Mass – Friday 3rd July – meet in the Hall/ Chapel at 9:05 for roll call
Student information:
- Students are permitted to wear The Becket School PE kit throughout Enrichment Week.
- With the warm weather and the walking involved in this local trip, students need to:
- Bring a water bottle
- Apply sun cream before school and bring a sunhat if needed
- Bring any required medication, including inhalers or EpiPens, and ensure any necessary morning medication has been taken (e.g. antihistamines)
- Wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking (trainers are recommended)
- Bring usual equipment for the school day, as students will return to school for lunch and afternoon activities (e.g. lanyard, conduct card, pencil case, etc.) – students can leave bags in the chapel for the walk to Mass

We hope you are ready for an fruitful few days because it is Enrichment Week here at The Becket school! This is your chance to step away from the usual routine, try something completely new, discover hidden talents and grow as a person.
To match the exciting week ahead, our Word of the Week is FOLLOW.
What Does it Mean to “Follow”?
When we think of the word “follow,” we might think of clicking a button on Instagram or TikTok, or following an instruction or person to a destination. But the following we are reflecting on this week is about who we choose to listen to and copy.
In life, following can be a powerful force for good or bad:
- When is it good to follow? It is brilliant to follow when we learn from a positive role model, like a teacher showing us a new skill, a coach training us in a sport, or a friend who inspires us to be kinder.
- When is it bad to follow? It becomes dangerous when we fall into a “herd mentality” and follow the crowd just to fit in, even when we know they are making a cruel or wrong choice.
Following Jesus means choosing Him as our ultimate compass. He doesn’t ask us to blindly follow rules; He invites us to follow His lifestyle of love, standing up for the lonely, and bringing peace to those around us. This week, we can use prayer to enrich our connection to Him, helping us follow His path with confidence.
Take a few minutes as a form to watch this week’s WOTW video. Think about how the message of “following” connects to the new adventures you’ll experience during Enrichment Week!

Dear Lord,
As we begin this exciting enrichment week, open our hearts to all the new opportunities around us. Help us to follow instructions well, learn new skills, and celebrate the talents you have given us.
Give us the courage to follow the right paths in life, even when they aren’t the easiest. When we are faced with tough choices, help us to look to Jesus as our ultimate role model. Enrich our souls through prayer this week, and guide our steps so that we may bring your love and peace to everyone we meet.
Amen.

Morning everyone,
As part of enrichment week we thought it would be fun to play a game and start off our day with something fun.
This game tests how closely we are paying attention to the leader. It’s all about fast reactions and careful listening!
How to Play:
- Invite one student to come to the front to be the Leader.
- Everyone else stands up behind their chairs.
- The Leader will call out instructions and do an action (e.g., clapping, jumping, waving hands).
- The Rule:
- If the Leader says “Do this!” before the action, everyone must copy them.
- If the Leader says “Do that!” before the action, everyone must carry on with the previous action.
- If a student copies a “Do that” action, they sit down. The last person standing wins!
That game is a lot harder than it looks, isn’t it? It requires you to completely block out distractions and focus entirely on the voice at the front. If you just copy what you see without listening to the words, you get caught out.
In the Gospels, whenever people encountered Jesus, their lives changed. But they had to listen closely to what He was actually asking them to do. Jesus didn’t say ‘sit back and watch me.’ He said, ‘Go and do likewise.’ He called people to actively feed the hungry, comfort the lonely, and forgive those who hurt them.
In our lives, there are a lot of loud voices telling us what to ‘do.’ Social media, peer pressure, and the crowd all shout ‘do this’ or ‘do that.’
Following Jesus means tuning our ears to a different frequency. When we encounter Jesus in prayer, in the kindness of a teacher, or in a classmate who needs help, He calls us to action. Listening to God isn’t passive, it’s about hearing His voice and then physically doing something to make the world a better, kinder place.”
Let us pray:
Dear Lord,
In the middle of a busy week, help us to quiet our minds and listen for your voice. Just like our game today, give us the focus to block out the noise and distractions of the world so we can hear your call.
When we encounter you today. In our friends, our lessons, and our challenges, give us the courage to follow you for good. Help us not just to hear your words, but to do your work by bringing kindness and love to school today.
Amen.

Welcome back to our prayer resources for this week! Today is our “Hear” Day.
During Enrichment Week, we spend a lot of time doing new activities, talking, and moving around. But an essential part of enriching our spirits is taking the time to grow quiet and simply listen.
Today, we are exploring how we can “hear” what it truly means to follow. Sometimes, God doesn’t speak to us in a loud shout; instead, He speaks in a whisper, or through a feeling, or very often, through the power of music.
Have you ever listened to a song and felt like the lyrics were written exactly for you? Music has a unique way of breaking through our busy thoughts and speaking directly to our hearts.
Worship music is designed to do exactly that. When we listen to worship songs, it isn’t just about the melody. It is a form of prayer. The words can remind us of who God is, comfort us when we are anxious, and give us the strength to follow Jesus even when the path ahead looks uncertain. Today, we are going to use our ears and our hearts to hear what God might be saying to us through song.
We are going to listen to “Follow”
As you watch the lyric video, try to put down any pens or distractions. Focus on the words on the screen and let the music fill the room. Listen out for any specific phrase or line that stands out to you today.
Now that we have listened to the song, take a few minutes of quiet to open your prayer journals. Use this peaceful time to write down your thoughts. You can use these prompts to help you:
- The Lyrics: Was there a particular line or word in the song that caught your attention? Write it down. Why do you think it stood out to you?
- Your Heart: How did the music make you feel? (e.g., peaceful, challenged, encouraged, calm?)
- Your Journey: What does “following” look like for you today? Ask God in your journal to help you hear Him clearly this week.

Dear Lord,
Thank you for the gift of music and the way it allows us to hear your truth in a deeper way. Thank you for the reminder that you call us to follow you every single day.
As we go about the rest of this Enrichment Week, keep our ears open to your guidance. Help us to hear your voice in the quiet moments, in the music we listen to, and in the words of those who care for us. Give us the trust we need to follow wherever you lead.
