The Becket way word of the week – ROUTINES
Routines are a fixed way of doing something. Fixed ‘Becket’ routines make it easier to know what to do with each teacher. Because we do routines all the time, we don’t even think about it. We have routines at the Becket school to:
- Maximise learning time and supports us working hard as we can then become better mathematicians, historians, linguists etc.
- So that our school is safe, calm, and respectful.
- Develop positive habits that shape our character.
The key routines we have are, entry and exit routines, roll call routines, SLANT, Silence
- Share with your tutor group – What does the word mean? Why is it important to how we do things at The Becket? Go through some of the routines.
- Incorporate it within your conversation with students during lesson or unstructured time.
- Include in any roll call that week.

We are excited to share that students at The Becket School in years 10, 11, 12 and 13 have the opportunity to attend the UK’s largest National Catholic Youth Event of 2025 “Flame” in the SS Wembley Arena on Saturday 15th March 2025. At this event, Wembley arena will be filled with thousands of young people from across the country, receiving faith-filled music, entertainment and talks from inspiring speakers and musicians in an atmosphere full of joy. This year’s special guests include Bear Grylls, MOBO award winning Guvna B and “The Voice’s” semi finalist in 2021 – Adenike Adewale.
The cost of the trip to “Flame” is £20! This cost includes coach travel and the event ticket, but not spending money or a packed lunch. We will be traveling by coach with other students and staff from the Our Lady of Lourdes CMAT and everyone will be departing from The Becket School early in the morning on Saturday 15th March and return that evening.

Welcome Back, we hope you had a restful half term! We are in the seventh week of Ordinary Time and the word of the week is Belonging!
7T have created our Be Inspirational resource for today. Let’s head over to them now to see what we’re focusing on this week…
In your form room, we invite you to write down all of the unique, gifts and qualities your form has on the outline of a person to help bring to life the scripture we heard in the video. Each person in your form belongs to your special form community and each of you, whether you believe it at first or not, contribute something special to your community.
Heavenly Father, Thank you for bringing us together as one family in our school. Help us to remember that each of us is important and that we belong to each other, just like the many parts of the body. Teach us to love, support, and care for one another, so that we can grow in faith and be a reflection of your love.

Today we are going to reflect on who and what we belong to. Open your prayer journals and find the belonging page. Begin by drawing a symbol that represents the word “belonging” to you – this might be a heart, a building, a body or globe.
Next, write or draw, all of the groups or communities you belong to…this could be your football team or swimming club, your hobbies, your church, your family, your form, your friendship group… And of course, everyone here belongs to The Becket community!
Next… Think about how you show that you belong to The Becket community. It might be that you try to be at the top of the pyramid, or that you join in extracurricular clubs. It could be that you always work hard and do the right thing, or wear your uniform with pride. Write or draw all the ways you show how you belong to The Becket school.
Finally… Think about how you show you belong to God’s community. You might be an altar server or do the offertory in your church. You might be a part of the Chaplaincy team. You might be kind to your neighbour and show respect to everyone meet. Write or draw all the ways you show how you belong to God’s family.
As you celebrate the gift of belonging in your prayer journals, we invite you to listen to this worship song…
Loving God, Thank you for the gift of our school and the community that we are part of. Help us to always feel welcome, loved, and supported here, just like we belong in Your family. Teach us to see each person as a valuable part of Your creation, and help us to love and care for one another as You love us. May our school be a place where we grow together in faith, kindness, and understanding, knowing that we are all united in You.

Interfaith Quiz – Celebrating Belonging
Each of us belong to a faith community at The Becket School and at the heart of this is to recognise the importance of mutual respect, understanding, and unity.
Every year, inspired by the UN’s Interfaith Harmony Week in February, we host an Interfaith Dialogue Panel for our Year 9 students. This Friday, Year 9 will be part of the audience, where they will have the chance to ask questions to a wonderful panel of guest speakers from various faith traditions. The dialogue that will take place is important because it reminds us that while our beliefs might be different and we might belong to different faith communities, our values often align in ways that promote peace, respect, and shared humanity.
Today, we would like every form to participate in an interfaith quiz. In this activity, you’ll have the chance to learn more about different religions and test your knowledge….
Here’s how it will work:
- Split into pairs or teams.
- Your staff member or student leader will ask you a multiple-choice question.
- Pick your answer, write it down on a piece of scrap paper, or hold up the number you think is correct after a 3, 2, 1 and show!
