“Eucharist” – Whole School Prayer Resources

The Becket way focus of the week – UNIFORM

Our school uniform is an important outward sign of our catholic school community and should be worn with pride both during the school day and when travelling to and from school.  Let us remind ourselves the expectations of the school uniform.

• Blazer should have our form badge on and be worn at all times when moving round the school building.  Please do not roll the sleeves up.
• Shirts should be tucked in at all times including break and lunch.
• Black or grey socks, not white, ankle or knee-high socks.
• Skirts should not be rolled up, school badge should be seen.
• 6 stripes on the tie and top button done up.
• No trainers, hoodies, jewellery (excluding one stud in each ear lobe and a watch)
• No make up including fake eye lashes or nail varnish.
• No piercings other than in the ear lobe.
• No extreme hair styles including hair dye which is of not a natural colour, shaved lines or buzz cuts.

• Share with your tutor group
• Please sign conduct cards for uniform, pass onto PL if it is consistent
• Include in any roll call that week.

The Word of the week is “Eucharist”! We are in the 12th week of Ordinary Time.

Next week is Enrichment week, year 7, 8 and 9 will be taking part in a pilgrimage to Mass at Holy Spirit Church as part of their enrichment week. Ruth/Joe will be emailing information regarding how many readers are needed from each form and how each form will contribute to the Mass – more info coming soon!

On Monday, there is a News and Comms meeting at 12:30. Please drop by for the meeting, you can have your lunch after the meeting.

“Spirited Arts” continues during Friday lunchtime in the RE department by Miss Weetman. See the poster below for more details!

Sports Day will be taking place on the 9th and 10th July. Please see the email from Mr Marlow regarding the sign up form for the events. Please make sure to have completed and returned your sports day form by the 27th June.

Next week, we will be celebrating Bishop Patrick’s 10th Anniversary of his ministry as Bishop of Nottingham.

To mark this special occasion of Bishop Patrick’s 10th anniversary as Bishop of Nottingham, each form is invited to write a message of congratulations or appreciation to him. These messages will be collected and presented to Bishop Patrick on Bishop’s Day next week.

A bishop is a successor to the apostles and a spiritual leader of a diocese — a group of churches in a particular area. Bishop Patrick guides the Catholic community across Nottingham. He is responsible for overseeing the celebration of the sacraments, supporting clergy and schools, and helping people grow in their faith.

Since becoming bishop in 2014, Bishop Patrick has launched school’s priorities: Encounter, Discipleship and Missionary Discipleship encouraging all of us to have a deeper relationship with God. He regularly visits parishes and schools, leads diocesan events, celebrates the Sacraments (many Becket students received the Sacrament of Confirmation recently with Bishop Patricks!) and he shares messages of hope and encouragement, especially with young people.

As a form, spend a few minutes discussing:

• What do you appreciate about Bishop Patrick?
• What would you like to thank or congratulate him for?
• Do you have any prayers, quotes, or thoughts you’d like to include to share with him?

Together, decide on one main message from your form that best represents your thoughts and gratitude. You can all pass the card round to sign it and write your own congratulations if you wish too!

Make sure to write any messages in the most beautiful handwriting and you are very welcome to decorate it to make it look even better!

Make sure to hand your completed card to Ruth or Joe!

This morning we are going to take a few quiet moments with our prayer journals.

We’re going to continue thinking about the Eucharist — a word that means “thanksgiving.” For Catholics, the Eucharist is a special way of remembering and giving thanks for the love Jesus showed by giving His life for us. Catholics believe He is truly present in the Eucharist — not just as a symbol, but in a real and mysterious way.

Whether you’ve received Holy Communion yet or not, this morning is going to be a time to reflect on what it means that Jesus gave Himself for the world — and how we can respond to His love.

As you listen to the song below, reflect on these questions and write your own response (using the ideas and inspiration below)…

Take a moment to quietly think about these questions:

• What does it mean to you that Jesus gave His life for others?
• Have you ever experienced a moment where you felt close to God or truly grateful?
• How do moments of prayer or stillness help you connect with something deeper?

✍️ Write in your journal:

Use one or more of the prompts below to help guide your thoughts:

• “When I think about Jesus’ love, I feel…”
• “Thank you, Jesus, for…”
• “If I could say one thing to Jesus, it would be…”
• “One way I can show love or kindness this week is…”

You might like to write a prayer, a short letter to Jesus, a reflection, or even draw a symbol or image that expresses how you feel. There’s no one right way — just be honest and thoughtful.

Let us pray together…

Jesus,
You gave Your life for us with a love that never ends.
The Eucharist reminds us to be thankful, to love, and to remember You.
Help me to understand Your love more deeply,
to be kind, peaceful, and generous.
Guide me to live with purpose and hope,
and to care for others the way You care for me.
Amen.

We can’t believe it’s been just over a week since we celebrated Culture Day!

Thank you so much to everyone who took part in the day and to the wonderful Respect and Diversity Team for planning the day and for helping us to celebrate the beautiful diversity of our school! The school was truly filled with joy and the spirit, and you all looked amazing!!
