“Gratitude” – Whole School Prayer Resources
The Word of the week is “Gratitude”! We are in the 15th week of Ordinary Time.
Thank you to year 10 for helping to prepare this week’s resources!
This week we are praying for…
- Everyone we are grateful for!
- Our sixth formers and members of the Nottingham Diocese who are on their pilgrimage to Lourdes this week!
Please keep them in your prayers this week and don’t forget to add any suggestions for prayer intentions to the comments box below!
Collective Worship and Catholic Life Rota
Monday – Year 7 COTW in the chapel
Tuesday – Year 9 COTW in the chapel
Wednesday – Year 12 COTW in the chapel
Thursday – Year 8 COTW in the chapel
Friday – Year 10 COTW in the chapel
There will be no Chaplaincy team meetings this week and the chapel will be closed during break and lunchtime this week as Ruth and Joe are in Lourdes.
We have year 5 transition visits on Monday and Tuesday this week – make sure to give them a smile and a wave to help them feel welcome!
Staff – If you have ran any house competitions this term that we might not have the placings for, please can you send us the results by Friday 18th July at the latest so that we can include them in the end of year totals and celebration.
It’s been a wonderful year for the houses, we’re excited to see the final totals on the last day!
Creative Competition! If anyone hasn’t handed in their entries, please get them in this week!

“Spirited Arts” continues during Friday lunchtime in the RE department by Miss Weetman. See the poster below for more details!

Let us begin this time of prayer with the sign of our faith:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The word of the week is Gratitude! We have so much to be grateful for in our community, last week’s sports day was a brilliant reminder of this! Let’s celebrate some of those things this morning!
Gratitude Journal
Thank you for reminding us of all the things we can be grateful for, even during difficult days!
In this week of Gratitude, we would like to gift each of you a gratitude journal! A gratitude journal is similar to a daily diary, but it focuses especially on what we can be grateful to God for.
We might feel thankfulness that we coped with a busy day or that had the courage for a difficult conversation. Or perhaps we simply want to say ‘thank you’ for good health, a roof over our heads, or for the loved ones in our lives…
There’s lots written about the benefits of gratitude for maintaining a positive mindset. An ‘attitude of gratitude’ is good for our mental health and overall well-being.
For Christians, thankfulness is about more than using positive psychology and affirmations to boost life satisfaction. It’s about recognising that ‘every good gift is from God’.
So it’s time for you to try an “attitude of gratitude” with your very own gratitude journal. This week, each day, take time to choose three reasons you’re grateful, and try to make sure they’re different each time.
Keep your journals safe with your form tutor and spend 1 minute filling them in each morning this week or take them home and put them somewhere safe where you’ll complete them, like by your bedside or stick it on a mirror!

Let us pray together…
The Glory Be is a short prayer Catholics say to praise God — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It’s a way of showing gratitude for God’s presence, power, and love, now and always. We pray it to thank God and to remember that His glory lasts forever.
We invite you to say together…
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
We finish this time of prayer together, by making the Sign of the Cross.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

We begin by remembering we are in the presence of God as we make the Sign of the Cross…
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
As Christians, we are called to “give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Thessalonians 5:18) – not because everything is perfect, but because God is always with us.
Take a few deep breaths. Be still and open your heart to prayer.
We are going to listen to a song called “Gratitude” you might recognise it if you have already had your COTW or if you went to the briars!
As you listen, we invite you to close eyes or follow along with lyrics.
As the song plays, reflect on the following questions:
- Who or what in your life are you thankful for?
- Is there a small moment recently that made you smile or feel peace that you are grateful for?
Listen to the song again and this time, we invite you to complete the following Prayer Journal Activity: The Gratitude 5
Write in your journal the following:
- One person you’re thankful for and why.
- One moment this week that has brought you joy so far.
- One challenge you’re facing and one thing you’ve learned from it.
- One thing in creation you’re grateful for today (nature, sky, animals, etc.).
- One thing about yourself you’re thankful for – a gift God has given you.
Then, write this short prayer underneath:
Thank You, Lord, for these blessings. Help me to see Your goodness in my daily life, even in the small things. Give me a grateful heart today. Amen.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
— Psalm 107:1
We finish our prayer by making the Sign of the Cross…
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Gratitude: Student Voice Activity on Collective Worship
As we reflect on our Word of the Week: Gratitude, today we’re taking time to think about the experiences of prayer and worship we are fortunate to have in our school—those we are thankful for—as well as looking ahead to the future of the next academic year and how we can continue to grow our Collective Worship.
We would like every student to “think” about the last 11 months and contribute to this short student voice Google Form as a collective.
Please click on the link below and complete the form in your tutor group, which will offer students the chance to share what they’ve enjoyed, found meaningful, and what they’d like to see more of.
There are two quick sections, each with three questions:
🟨 Part 1 – Form Time Prayer Resources (Be Inspirational)
🟦 Part 2 – Celebrations of the Word (In person and virtual)
You can write answers as a class using bullet points directly on the Google Form.
Please encourage honest and thoughtful reflection—your voice really does help shape the prayer life of our school!
Thank you so much to everyone for helping plan and lead some brilliant forms of worship this year!

Prayer of Gratitude for Our School Community
Loving God,
We thank You for the gift of our school community and the freedom to explore our faith.
Thank You for the moments of peace, joy, and hope that have helped us feel close to You this year.
As we look ahead to the next academic year, help us to listen, to share, and to shape a school
where Your love is at the centre of everything we do.
We offer this prayer with hearts full of gratitude.
Amen.
Let us end our time of prayer together by making the Sign of the Cross:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
End of Year Liturgy Prep!
On Friday 25th July we will have our end of year celebrations which is always a joyful and positive celebration of the year we have had.
Timings and a schedule for the day will be shared shortly. 6th form and Years 7-10 will have a seperate COTW. But for now, we want each form to start planning and thinking about their Liturgy part so that our celebration can be as special as possible!
As is our tradition, every form group is asked to create a reflection for a specific part of this academic year that will be presented in the celebration.
Each form will also be asked to contribute a decoration or offering to our prayer display or the sanctuary for the celebration.
Please check the google doc below to see what your form groups preparation task(s) are and please complete these preparations during form time prayer in the next week.
Jubilee posters for the reflections for all form groups and prayer templates will be available for collection on Monday in the staffroom.
An email will be shared with staff with a reminder of this information on Monday 21st July!
