We are in the 2nd week of Advent and the Word of the week is “Peace”!
This week we are praying for…
- All countries who are experiencing war and conflict
- Migrants and Refugees

Monday
- Year 7 and 8 COTW
- Lunchtime – The Chapel is open for Christmas card making and colouring for hospitals, prisons and care homes.
- Lunchtime – News and Communications Mission Team meeting in the chapel (plus any other Chaplaincy team who can help with articles for the Good News Chaplaincy newsletter!)
Tuesday

- Year 12 and 13 COTW
- Becket Reads – Year 12 and 13 to come to the chapel for an assembly
- Lunchtime – The Chapel is open for Christmas card making and colouring for hospitals, prisons and care homes.

- Year 9 Retreat Day – Year 9 will have normal form time on Friday and then will be off timetable with Ruth, Joe and teaching staff from P1-5 with Advent themed retreat activities.
- Students do not need their subject books or PE kits (unless told otherwise or for clubs). Students must bring in their usual equipment – pens, colours, conduct card etc which will be needed throughout the day.
- Staff – please await email from Ruth / Joe with further details and the roomings.

A message from the Eco Team…
The Eco and Sustainability Team are inviting all students and staff to take part in a Light Switch Off event!
Starting from Monday 1st December for 2 weeks until Friday 12th December, we ask that you please (where possible!) try to:
- Turn off lights when the room is empty
- Turn off desktop monitors at the end of the day
- Turn off your boards at the end of the day
You may want to elect a student in your form to be the light monitor to check in each morning with your form tutor and discuss what was able to be switched off.
Even small actions can add up to big environmental benefits by saving energy and reducing emissions.

The Word of the Week is Peace 🕊️ As we journey through the second week of Advent, Sunday’s Gospel reminds us to “prepare the way for the Lord.” As we await the Birthday of the prince of peace and the second coming of Jesus, we are called to share peace with one another and pray for peace in our world.
In a world often filled with conflict and turmoil, we are called to be peacemakers — not simply by avoiding arguments, but actively working towards reconciliation and understanding.
12B wanted you to start the week off peacefully so they have created a guided meditation for you. Get comfortable in your seats, remove any distractions on your desk and dim the lights.
Closing Prayer – A prayer for peace
Loving God, In this season of Advent, we prepare our hearts for the coming of your Son, the Prince of Peace.
We pray for peace in our world — where there is conflict, bring reconciliation; where there is division, bring unity; where there is fear, bring hope.
We pray for peace in our own lives — calm our worries, guide our choices, and help us to trust in you.
We pray for peace in our friendships — teach us to listen, forgive, and support one another with kindness and love.
May we be peacemakers each day, building your Kingdom here on earth through the way we live, speak and care for others.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Last week we reflected on Mary as we began our crafted nativity scene. This week, we turn to Joseph.
Saint Joseph is known as a man of peace and the “silent worker.” When he learned Mary was expecting a child, he chose trust over anger, listening to God’s message in a dream and accepting his role as protector of Mary and Jesus.
As a carpenter, Joseph earned an honest living to provide for his family. He shows us the dignity and joy of work, and how our daily tasks can be a way of cooperating with God. His example reminds us that peace is not just the absence of conflict, but choosing patience, trust, and love even when life feels uncertain.
In Advent, we are invited to follow Joseph’s example: to bring peace into our friendships, families, and communities by listening to God and acting with kindness.
Reflective Questions
- How can my daily work (school, friendships, helping at home) be a way of building peace?
- Who are the “silent workers” in my life who bring peace without recognition?
Journal Activity
In your prayer journals, reflect on how you can be a worker for peace like Saint Joseph. In your journals we invite you draw a dove (a symbol of peace) or a white lily (the flower of Saint Joseph, representing purity and faith). Then write a Peace Pledge beginning with: “This week I will work for peace by…”
- Mending a broken friendship.
- Forgiving someone who has hurt me.
- Choosing not to engage in gossip or drama.
- Supporting someone quietly, like Joseph the silent worker.

Loving God, We thank you for the example of Saint Joseph — a man of peace, trust, and quiet strength.
Help us to be workers for peace in our own lives: in our families, our friendships, and our school community.
Give us patience when life feels uncertain, courage to protect and support others, and faith to trust in your plan.
May we, like Joseph, listen to your voice and act with kindness each day. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

This week, we are continuing with our crafted Nativity scenes! Inspired by your fabulous saint rolls, we want your form groups to build a Nativity scene out of loo rolls and crafts to help us welcome and make room for Jesus this Advent.
