On Friday 21st June there will be a voluntary Mass in the chapel, starting at 8:30am and will take place throughout form time. All are welcome! Please pop down to the chapel on Monday if you would like to sign up to attend and if you would like to help with a Mass part e.g. singing, playing an instrument, reading, altar serving etc.
The word of the week is Evangelise
We are in the 11th week of Ordinary Time and the Liturgical colour is green! This week’s resources have been planned by 8P.
Welcome back! We remind ourselves of the good news we share with others by making the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
To evangelise is to share the Gospel with others. In the Church, we are called to evangelise by being faithful disciples of Jesus and putting that faith into action. When we evangelise as Missionary Disciples we are helping others to know Jesus and build the Kingdom of God on earth.
Please choose someone to read the scripture out loud that has been chosen by 8P.
A reading from the letter of St James,
My friends, what good is it for one of you to say that you have faith if your actions do not prove it? Can that faith save you? Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and don’t have enough to eat. What good is there in your saying to them, “God bless you! Keep warm and eat well!”—if you don’t give them the necessities of life? So it is with faith: if it is alone and includes no actions, then it is dead. But someone will say, “One person has faith, another has actions.” My answer is, “Show me how anyone can have faith without actions. I will show you my faith by my actions.”

8P thought about some of the ways in which we live out the Gospel values in our everyday life for this week’s word of the week video – they show us just how easy and simple it can be sometimes to put our faith into action – see if it inspires you to do the same.
After watching the word of the week video, spend some time talking about those people you see showing their faith by their actions in school and in public.

When thinking about the theme “Evangelise” 8P remembered a very famous song which most of us have probably sang at some point – “Go out in the world!”
While the song is bringing back some memories we would like you to spend some time in your prayer journals.
Write about what faith in action means to you and make a pledge of an action you could do this week – this could be something you could do in form, around school or at home. How could you bring a bit of good news to others? – We’ll be checking back in with this on Friday to see if you managed to complete it and you’ll be sharing how you got on with your form!
Lord, give us the courage to answer your calling to go make disciples of the nations with our words and actions. Amen.

You may have noticed that there is a general election going on! But what do you think about it all?
Although there is not an option (Yet) for those under 18 to vote – what have you made of it all – have you engaged with any of it yet?
Watch this breakdown of what it all means and then have a discussion as a class – what do we think of what we’re are hearing and should you have a say on who runs the country?
It might be hard to see where our faith connects with politics but if you look closely you’ll see that a lot of the principles of Catholic Social Teaching are really what the parties are debating about.
What policies or parties do you think are working for the Common good?
What policies or parties do you think respect Human Dignity?
What policies or parties do you think are making a preferential option for the poor?
Lord we pray that our faith and our Gospel values can inspire our leaders to make our world a better place.

Earlier in the week we asked you to make a pledge as to how you could put your faith into action. It’s time to revisit those and see how well we’ve done!
Speak to the person next to you – did you manage to keep your pledge and what affect did it have?
(If you didn’t make a pledge then think about who this week in your form has put their faith, or a Gospel Value, into action)
If you’re feeling brave then take turns one at a time in your form and share you answer out loud with each other. (Or share the name of the person in your form who you thought was showing their faith by their actions)

Lord, help us to put our faith into action in the service of others.

This week’s prayer intentions: – to be used when you decide throughout the week.
We continue to pray for the country as we prepare for the general election on the 4th July. We pray that the campaigners and voters seek truth, justice and peace.
We pray for year 11 and year 13 who continue to sit their exams – we pray for those who have finished their exams and those whose exams are nearly over!
8P invite you to pray for…
The conflicts in Sudan, Ukraine and Gaza,
Those who are spiritually lost,
May God’s light allow them to find peace with themselves.
