This week’s prayer resources were planned by 12T – Thank you!
This week we are praying for:
The victims and the families affected by 9/11 & all who have suffered loss from acts of terrorism – prayer intention by 7T
Those people with personality disorders like bi-polar, they are in our thoughts and people with additional needs – prayer intention by 7T
Pray for the Polish people who suffering from the floods. May God keep them safe. – prayer intention by 10B

Celebration of the Word and Chaplaincy Rota:
The Teresa House Mass will be happening one morning next week. We are awaiting priest confirmation to know which day. Each form in Teresa House has been sent a part of the Mass to make and lead within the celebration – please check the email from Ruth.
Please can the students who have been helping Mr Udoh, Ruth and Mrs Conlon plan the Solidarity Celebration of the Word (in the Respect and Diversity Team) come to the chapel to practise on Thursday and Friday during Becket Reads.
In this week’s Celebration of the Word you will learn more about our new Chaplaincy mission teams, if you would like to join the Chaplaincy team, please pick up an application form (from the chapel door), complete it and then hand it in to Mrs Conlon (Mon – Wed) or Ruth (Thurs – Fri). If you are in year 7 it would be really helpful if you can complete and hand in your application by Friday, as we would like to have a year 7 Chaplaincy induction meeting next week for our new starters!

Season of Creation Creative Competition
Bake Off House Competition!
The MFL team are hosting a bake of for European Day of Languages on the plaza at lunchtime on Thursday 26th September. See poster below for more details.
Please do start to chat to students about it and encourage as many as possible to take part. Please can you log names of those who are planning on baking on the google form:
Bakes to be brought next Thursday morning to the MFL office.
Staff are also welcome to enter!
European Day of Languages!
How many French and German words can you create from the phrase ” WORK HARD, BE LOVING, DO THE RIGHT THING!” Words of two letters or more will be accepted. You can only use each letter once in each word. Prizes will be awarded to the top forms in KS3 (years 7-9), and KS4/sixth form (years 10 – 13). Also 1st, 2nd and 3rd place forms will win additional house points. All entries will receive points for their house so have a go! Bonne Chance and Viel Glück! The deadline for completion is 3.05pm on Friday 4th October.

Heavenly Father, open our eyes to see the truth, open our hearts to receive your understanding and to spread your Word to all people.
Lord, We thank you for the times that we have experienced an encounter with You, helping us to better understand the love you have for us. Amen.

For our “hear” resource we would like to share another piece of scripture with you to reflect on, which has been chosen by 12T.
A reading from the letter of St John
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

The scripture reminds us that understanding is a gift from God, revealed through His Son, Jesus Christ.
We would like you to listen to the song below called “Nothing I hold on to” which was suggested by some of 12T. The song encourages letting go of personal control and relying on God’s guidance.
We invite you to listen to the lyrics of the song and in your prayer journals, write or doodle answers to the two questions below, there are a couple of examples to inspire you:
- Is there anything that you are uncertain about where you would like to seek God’s understanding?
- For example…”I need God’s understanding with…” or “I need better understanding with…”
- E.g. choosing a vocation,
- learning how to love better and forgive better,
- dealing with loss or setbacks,
- when facing ethical decisions,
- Choosing the right people to hang around with or who to follow on social media,
- in moments of doubt or when you question your faith
- What is a practical way you can seek God’s understanding during this stage in your life?
- For example…”I am going to try to seek God’s understanding by…”
- E.g. Spend more time in prayer or quiet contemplation
- Read the scripture more and reflect on how it applies to your life
- Attend Mass or opportunities of prayer to connect with God
- Discuss your thoughts with a trusted spiritual mentor or priest
- Get involved in volunteering and service projects where you can better understand putting faith into action

Lord, we pray that through this blissful worship music, we can enhance our relationship with You and achieve a better understanding of our faith.
Heavenly Father, give us the grace to hear you speak to our hearts. Let us understand the truths you give to us. Amen.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Understanding is essential for building relationships, for empathising with others and for making good decisions.
Understanding is also the key to bringing peace in our lives, our communities and in our world. We know just how much conflict there is in the world at the moment and on Saturday (the 21st) it was the UN International Day of Peace.
To mark this, and to show the importance of understanding this week, we’re going to make a dove, a symbol of peace, to help us to reflect on how we can understand people better and share peace.
(Each group will have a Dove ready for form time.)
As a form, have a talk about some pledges/ promises you could make to bring peace to our community this week.
You could write things like:
“Be patient when something frustrates me”
“Try not to answer back and listen, to understand each other better”
“Take some time out to calm down before reacting to something annoying”
“Using more time to pray for peace”
Write your form pledge/pledges on the dove, either on the wings or on the body and then put it up in your form room this week to encourage each other to be more peaceful.

Lord, we pray that you continue to lead us into truth, enlighten our minds to understand your ways more deeply in our lives and may understanding always flow from our heart of faith.
Lord, help me to listen, be thoughtful and understand the needs of others. Amen.

As we continue in the season of creation, we are going to continue with our season of creation activity today as each form helps to create the next part of our display – our Clouds and our Rain Drops…
Each form will have a cloud and a rain drop to fill with the answers to these questions. Spend some time as form discussing the answers.
How has humanity damaged God’s Creation?
Pollution, wasting resources, deforestation etc…
How can you bring healing to God’s creation?
Recycling, taking care of nature, eating less meat etc…
Let us pray…
Lord, help us to be understanding to one another and show compassion to each part of God’s creation. May we spread happiness with everyone that we encounter. Amen.
