Thank you 11E for planning our resources this week!
This week we are praying for:
The victims and the families affected by 9/11 & all who have suffered loss from acts of terrorism – prayer intention by 7T
Those people with personality disorders like bi-polar, they are in our thoughts and people with additional needs – prayer intention by 7T
Pray for the Polish people who suffering from the floods. May God keep them safe. – prayer intention by 10B

Celebration of the Word and Chaplaincy Rota:
The Teresa House Mass will be happening one morning next week. We are awaiting priest confirmation to know which day. Each form in Teresa House has been sent a part of the Mass to make and lead within the celebration – please check the email from Ruth.
Please can the students who have been helping Mr Udoh, Ruth and Mrs Conlon plan the Solidarity Celebration of the Word (in the Respect and Diversity Team) come to the chapel to practise on Thursday and Friday during Becket Reads.
In this week’s Celebration of the Word you will learn more about our new Chaplaincy mission teams, if you would like to join the Chaplaincy team, please pick up an application form (from the chapel door), complete it and then hand it in to Mrs Conlon (Mon – Wed) or Ruth (Thurs – Fri). If you are in year 7 it would be really helpful if you can complete and hand in your application by Friday, as we would like to have a year 7 Chaplaincy induction meeting next week for our new starters!

Season of Creation Creative Competition
Bake Off House Competition!
The MFL team are hosting a bake of for European Day of Languages on the plaza at lunchtime on Thursday 26th September. See poster below for more details.
Please do start to chat to students about it and encourage as many as possible to take part. Please can you log names of those who are planning on baking on the google form:
Bakes to be brought next Thursday morning to the MFL office.
Staff are also welcome to enter!
European Day of Languages!
How many French and German words can you create from the phrase ” WORK HARD, BE LOVING, DO THE RIGHT THING!” Words of two letters or more will be accepted. You can only use each letter once in each word. Prizes will be awarded to the top forms in KS3 (years 7-9), and KS4/sixth form (years 10 – 13). Also 1st, 2nd and 3rd place forms will win additional house points. All entries will receive points for their house so have a go! Bonne Chance and Viel Glück! The deadline for completion is 3.05pm on Friday 4th October.

Welcome back everyone! This week’s Word of the Week is understanding and 11E are going to help us think about how we can understand ourselves, our world and each other just that little bit more this week.
Understanding is essential for building relationships, for empathising with others and for making good decisions.
Understanding is also key to bringing peace in our lives, our communities and in our world. We know just how much conflict there is in the world at the moment and on Saturday (the 21st) it was the UN International Day of Peace.
To mark this, and to show the importance of understanding this week, we’re going to make the symbol of a dove, a symbol of peace, to help us reflect on how we can understand people better and share peace.
(Each group will have a Dove ready for form time.)
As a form, have a talk about some pledges/ promises you could make to bring peace to our community this week.
You could write things like:
“Be patient when something frustrates me”
“Try not to answer back and to listen and understand each other better”
“Take some time out to calm down before reacting to something annoying”
“Spend more time praying for peace in the world”
Write your form pledge/pledges on the dove, either on the wings or on the body and then put it up in your form room this week, somewhere where everyone will see it, to encourage each other to be more peaceful.
Lord, help us to bring peace to our lives and to our world. Help us to understand each other and ourselves better so that we can bring peace to everyone we meet.

We’d now like you to use some time this morning to interview your form tutor, or to interview each other!
You could spend some time thinking of some questions as a form that will really help deepen your understanding of that person. Try to think of interesting and meaningful questions – perhaps about what they like and dislike and about why they feel a certain way, or do a certain thing as a hobby or interest.
The idea is to try and understand each other better – so try to find out things that you didn’t already know! Above all, make sure that you listen, and give time for people to speak, so that your interview leads to a deeper understanding!
Lord, help us to take the time to really listen to each other and understand each other better. Amen

And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. In your prayer Journals reflect on the piece of scripture you’ve just heard.
Think about these 4 questions and create an image/page like this with your thoughts.
Path – Write a time when you’ve found it hard to understand someone.
Maybe it was a time when you thought someone was in the wrong or didn’t take the time to listen.
Rocks – What distracts us from understanding what’s going on?
Do certain people put us off, or do we get distracted with things that are not important, do we believe everything we see on social media?
Thorns – What makes it difficult for you to focus on what’s happening around you?
Do you get scared of certain situations or lack confidence sometimes?
Good Soil – What is something that you’ve learned or that you’ve achieved because of your understanding?
Have you mastered a new idea in a subject or learned something that’s helped a relationship?
Lord, help us be open to understanding the people, and the world around us. Help God’s word to fall on the good soil in our lives. Amen

We are continuing with our Season of Creation activity today and helping to create the next part of our display our Clouds and our Rain Drops
Each form will have a cloud and a rain drop to fill with the answers to these questions. Spend some time as form discussing the answers.
How has humanity damaged God’s Creation?
Pollution, wasting resources, deforestation etc…
How can you bring healing to God’s creation?
Recycling, taking care of nature etc…
Let us pray…
Lord, thank you for the beauty of your creation and for making us all a part of it. Help us understand the needs of our world and help us bring healing to your creation. Amen
