This week we are praying for:
Those affected by war and violence.
Those who are in hospital at the moment.
The environment and our common home as we journey through the Season of Creation.
Please keep these intentions in your prayers this week and don’t forget to add any suggestions for prayer intentions to the comments box below.

The Chapel at Lunchtimes – this week!…
The chapel will be open this week at break and lunchtimes. On Monday we are doing our final bits of filming for the school music video 2024! If you would like to be a part of the video and you have video consent, please see Ruth on Monday!
All are welcome – the school music video is an opportunity to celebrate and showcase our wonderful school community, you can get involved by waving, smiling, laughing, dancing, reading, walking, talking and much more!
Fairtrade Friday Tuckshop will be in the atrium during Friday lunchtime!

Welcome back everyone! This week’s word of the week is identity. This week is a great opportunity to look at who we are as individuals and as a whole school community.
You might recognise the identity of some of 13B in the video below – they planned this week’s prayer resources – and here they talk about some of the things that make them who they are…

A reading from the Acts of the apostles
But Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. And falling to the ground he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.” The men who were travelling with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one. Saul rose from the ground, and although his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. So they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. Ananias entered the house. And laying his hands on Paul he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized; and taking food, he was strengthened.

Lord, thank you for making us in your image and for giving us an identity. Help us to recognise the dignity of each other and to see people for who they really are.

13B have chosen a great song to listen to today – this song could apply to many of the different people in our society who are often judged and discriminated against because of their identity.
To recognise a person’s identity is to give those people respect and dignity and as you listen to the song below, think about which lines of the song really speak to you and who in our world today is not “seen” for who they really are.
Take some time in your Prayer Journals while you listen to the song and think about the questions below.
Who is the person God made you to be?
What makes you who you are – what defines you?
Who is the person you want others to see?
As today we are thinking about what we hear, take a moment now in silence, bow your heads and listen to what God might be calling us to do today to recognise people’s identity.
Lord, help us to see people as they really are. Help us to be understanding and kind so that we can make our school community a place of acceptance and love. Amen

We’re going to spend some time thinking about how we can affirm others in their identity today!
Using kind words to recognise something good in each other is a powerful way to give people confidence and to make them feel good.
13B decided that it would be really nice to give some kind words of encouragement to other forms in your year group so as a class, write an affirmation (a message of encouragement) for the form you’ve been paired with below. You could talk about the things you like about them, the things they are good at or just offer some words of encouragement to help them celebrate who they are.

We are continuing with our Season of Creation activity today and helping to create the next part of our display.
We’re going to be creating flowers (these should be with your form tutor) to go alongside the rays of sunlight from last week.
The flowers are inspired by St Teresa (One of our house patrons) She said:
I understood that if all flowers wanted to be roses, nature would lose her springtime beauty, and the fields would no longer be decked out with little wild flowers. And so it is in the world of souls, Jesus’ garden.
St Teresa reminds us that we are not all meant to be the same – we are all made with our own unique identity.
Each form will have one flower that will go to be a part of our Season of creation display board.
Pass the flower around and write examples of the different gifts and talents each one of you brings to the world to make it more beautiful.
You could write things like “I love to sing to other people”, “I like to care for animals and look after nature” or “I like to entertain and make people laugh” for example.
Be creative – anything goes – we’re all unique and different and that’s what makes God’s creation so amazing!
Let us pray…
Lord, thank you for the beauty of your creation and for making us all a part of it. Help us to flourish in our own way so that we can add to the beauty of what you have made. Amen
