This week’s prayer lower school resources have been planned by 11R – thank you!
This week we are praying for:
- All people who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Baptism
- All students who are taking part in mock exams
Please keep them in your prayers this week and don’t forget to add any suggestions for prayer intentions to the comments box below!
Key Stage Celebration of the Word and Chaplaincy Rota:
Monday: Y7 – Chapel, Y8 – Hall
Tuesday: Y9 – Chapel, Y10 – Hall
Wednesday: Y12 and Y13
Thursday: Y11
Friday: Year 10 Retreat Day from period 1 – period 5
On Friday, year 10 will take part in their retreat day based on the theme of Global Justice. Year 10 students will be off timetable on Friday with the Chaplains and their teaching staff to complete activities, reflections and listen to guest speakers as they reflect on this theme. Year 10 will have their normal form time on Friday and then need to come to the hall at the start of period 1. Students do not need to bring their lesson books, but do need to wear their normal uniform and bring their usual equipment.
Form Rooms and Prayer Boards
Please make sure that you have changed your Liturgical colour flip chart on your prayer boards to Green for Ordinary Time and please make sure to take down your old 20…24 Epiphany chalk Blessing signs and replace them with a new one for 2025 (created by year 7 last week)! You can collect a new Epiphany blessing sign for your room from the staff room if you haven’t already.
Year 8 – “Jubilee Year” Chapel House Board Competition
Year 8 tutors – please see the email sent from Ruth last week regarding the year 8 display board competition. The deadline for the boards to be finished and up is Wednesday 22nd January! If you haven’t received the email, please let Ruth know.

Good morning, we invite you to join us in making the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
On Sunday we celebrated the feast of the Baptism of the Lord and from this Monday we enter into the season of Ordinary time where our liturgical colour changes to GREEN. Please make sure to change your Liturgical seasons flip book on your form prayer boards!
The wonderful 11R have created our Be Inspirational resources this week. Let’s head over to them now to see what we’re focusing on this week…
Thanks to Francis and India for highlighting to us the importance of the Sacrament of Baptism.
Let’s see if you were listening. In our next video you’ll see several items on the screen in a certain order… You need to remember what they are (in the same order!) and explain why they’re an important part of Baptism to the person next to you…
At the end of the video, list the objects you saw in the order that they appeared and share with one another what important role they play in the Sacrament of Baptism??

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of Baptism, where we are made part of Your family and filled with Your love. Today, we pray for those who have been baptised and those who are still preparing for this special moment. Bless all of us with open hearts to feel Your presence in our lives. Help those who are waiting for Baptism to trust in Your plans and feel excited about joining Your family of faith.
Amen.

P.S. Remember to bring a cute pic in of you at your baptism to show others in your form! Positive points for everyone who does! 🙂
If you haven’t been baptised, try to find a baby photo from another meaningful moment or celebration from your life.
On Friday, the photos will be laid out on a table, held up, or blue tac’d to the board (your choice) and your form will try to guess who is who!
When seeking your photos, perhaps you could try to find out more about the special occasion from your family if you can’t remember it e.g. which church did it happen in, who was the priest, who are your godparents etc.

*Remember to bring in a Baptism baby/childhood photo, or a meaningful moment baby photo, for your form to play a game of guess who in Friday’s form time prayer!

Today, 11R are going to lead us through a meditation. Make yourselves comfortable, close your eyes or place your head on the desk, and let’s give ourselves the space to start our day in a calm and peaceful manner.
Let us end with prayer. Dear God,
Thank You for the gift of Baptism, for making me Your child and welcoming me into Your family.
Help me to always remember the love and grace I received through the waters of Baptism.
Guide me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to live as a follower of Jesus, sharing Your love with others.
Thank You for being with me always, through every moment of my life.
Amen.

Today 11R invite you to reflect on the importance of Baptism in your prayer journals.Â
Questions to reflect upon:
- When you were baptised, you left behind the old ways of selfishness and sin, what did you let go of and leave behind?
- What did you gain when you were baptised?
- How do you live out your baptism? How do you live out your faith?
Let’s end in prayer
Dear God, thank you for the gift of baptism and the new life it represents. Help me to remember that I am yours, loved and forgiven. Teach me to walk in the way of Jesus. When I stumble, remind me of the grace you gave me on the day I was baptised, May I live each day in the fulnness of your love Amen.

It is baby photo day, please get your baptism baby photos ready, but don’t let anyone around you see your photo!
Hand the photos face down to your staff member and decide how you are going to play the guess who.
E.g. the photos could be laid out on a table like a gallery and people come to view them and guess. You could blue tac the photos on the board for all to see, or hold each photo up and everyone has a guess!
As you play the game, share with one another anything you know about your baptism or the meaningful moment pictured.
Today, 11R invites you to think about the Baptismal Vows. Your form tutors have a water droplet with questions on based on the vows made at your Baptism. Take your time to answer the questions, you may choose to do this as a discussion, or pass the sheet around in order for each of you to write a word or short answer to each question. You might wish to pause the video after each question to give yourselves some time to reflect on it.
- What does it mean to “renounce sin” in your baptismal vows? Can you think of something in your life that you might need to turn away from to be closer to God?
- When you say, “I believe in God, the Father Almighty,” what does that statement mean to you? How do you see God as your Father in your life today?
- How do you understand the vow to “follow the teachings of Jesus”? What does following Jesus look like in your everyday actions, choices, and relationships?
- What does it mean to be “a member of the Church”? How do you think your baptism connects you to other people who are also baptised?
- What are some ways you can live out your baptismal vows in school or at home? Give an example of how you can reflect God’s love in a difficult situation.
- How does the water in baptism symbolize being “washed clean” from sin? How can you remind yourself that God has forgiven you, even when you make mistakes?
- Why is it important to remember your baptismal vows as you grow older? In what ways can you keep your promises to God, even in challenging times?
Cut your water droplet out and place it on your prayer board.
