This week’s prayer resources were planned by 12B – thank you!
This week we are praying for:
- All people who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Baptism
- All students who are taking part in mock exams
Please keep them in your prayers this week and don’t forget to add any suggestions for prayer intentions to the comments box below!

Form Rooms and Prayer Boards
Please make sure that you have changed your Liturgical colour flip chart on your prayer boards to Green for Ordinary Time and please make sure to take down your old 20…24 Epiphany chalk Blessing signs and replace them with a new one for 2025 (created by year 7 last week)! You can collect a new Epiphany blessing sign for your room from the staff room if you haven’t already.
Lourdes Pilgrimage – Saturday 12th July – Saturday 19th July
If you are interested in going to Lourdes in July, please make sure to:
- Join the Lourdes google classroom – s5axfrz
- Read the first letter which has previously been emailed home and posted on Google classroom, you can also collect a paper copy from the chapel letter holder (this has more details about the trip, the payment plan etc)
- See Ruth/Joe in the chapel if you have any questions, concerns or need help with fundraising
- Make sure that you have a valid and in date passport (and you will need 2 additional forms of ID for your DBS application e.g. provisional licence, birth certificate, bank statement)
- Start paying on Arbor, the trip account is open to secure your spaces on the pilgrimage!

Good morning, we invite you to join us in making the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
On Sunday we celebrated the feast of the Baptism of the Lord and from this Monday we enter into the season of Ordinary time where our liturgical colour changes to GREEN. Please make sure to change your Liturgical seasons flip book on your form prayer boards!

Luke 3:21-22
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke,
All: Glory to You O Lord
As the people were in expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Christ, John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

To do for Friday – bring in a baby / baptism photo!
As mentioned by 12B, we would like everyone (staff are included!) to dig deep in the archive and find a baby or childhood photo from a special occasion. If you have been Baptised, we would love for you to bring in a photo from your Baptism.
If you haven’t been baptised, try to find a baby photo from another meaningful moment or celebration from your life.
On Friday, the photos will be laid out on a table, held up, or blue tac’d to the board (your choice) and your form will try to guess who is who!
When seeking your photos, perhaps you could try to find out more about the special occasion from your family if you can’t remember it e.g. which church did it happen in, who was the priest, who are your godparents etc.

In the sacrament of Baptism, Baptismal promises are made during the service. Typically, godparents answer the questions on behalf of the child or baby, or if someone is being baptised when they are older, they will make the Baptismal promises themselves.
Baptismal promises are a sign of commitment to the faith. For Christians, baptismal promises are a way of saying “yes” to God. It’s an opportunity for a fresh start and to commit to living a life of love and to commit to rejecting anything that leads us away from goodness. These baptismal promises are renewed in other Sacramental celebrations, as well as the Easter Masses each year.
We all make promises in our lives, whether we are baptised or not – to ourselves, to others, and to the communities we are part of. Today, we are going to reflect on the promises we want to make, as we step into this year of 2025.
As you listen to the piece of music below, we invite you to reflect on the theme of Baptism, fresh starts and new beginnings. While listening, draw and decorate either:
- A baptismal candle (symbolising light and hope)
- A water drop (symbolising cleansing, renewal, and life)
On your image in your prayer journal, write your own “baptismal promise” – something that you want to commit to this year as a way of bringing light and goodness into your life and the lives of others.
For example:
- “I promise to make more time for my prayer life and focus better in Mass or worship time in school”
- “I promise to devote some of my free time to helping a person or community who are in need”
- “I promise to love myself more and to try to share my gifts and light more with others”
- “I promise to work harder and show more respect to the people around me who are trying to help me”
Let us pray…
Loving God, Help us to live out our promises with courage and love, bringing light and hope to those around us. Amen.

It is baby photo day, please get your baby photos ready, but don’t let anyone around you see your photo!
Hand the photos face down to your staff member and decide how you are going to play the guess who.
E.g. the photos could be laid out on a table like a gallery and people come to view them and guess. You could blue tac the photos on the board for all to see, or hold each photo up and everyone has a guess!
As you play the game, share with one another anything you know about your baptism or the meaningful moment pictured.
As we begin this new year of 2025, which is a special jubilee year in the Church, 12B would like you to make your own promise candle to help you to start this journey in the new year. If you don’t have chance to finish it today, you can continue the candle next week in our jubilee year launch week.
12B wanted to bring back the toilet rolls, so each form should have one toilet roll with a candle cover. On the candle cover, we would like you to decorate the candle and sign your names on the candle.
Similar to the symbolism of a baptismal candle, this form candle will symbolise the fresh start that we have at the beginning of this year and it will be a reminder of our promise to share light and hope with all who we encounter.

Let us finish this week together by praying the prayer that Jesus taught us…
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
We remember that God is with us throughout our day as we make the Sign of the Cross…
