Prayer – 6th Form Prayer Resources

The Becket Way Theme of the week – “Banter is never an excuse“
At The Becket School, we believe that every person should feel safe, valued, and respected.
We don’t ever use ‘banter’ as a term to excuse unkindness or bullying. We usually have no idea how our words/actions are affecting the inside of somebody else…. Even if they laugh it off on the outside.
We often have no idea what someone is feeling on the inside, even if they seem to laugh things off on the outside. A joke to one person might be hurtful to another. That’s why we are mindful of our words and make sure that what we say builds people up rather than knocks them down.
Why is this important in how we do things at The Becket School?

This week’s prayer resources were planned by 12E- Thank you!
This week we are praying for…
- We continue to pray for Pope Francis, who is in hospital suffering from critical illness
- We pray for Year 11 as they begin their mock exams
- We pray for an end to world hunger and food poverty
Please keep them in your prayers this week and don’t forget to add any suggestions for prayer intentions to the comments box below!

Good morning, let’s take a quick look at today’s Lenten challenge…

We invite you to make the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
This week’s prayer resources have been created by the lovely 12E. Let’s head over to them now to find out more about this week’s theme…
12E wanted each day of this week’s resources to represent a different type of prayer.
Today we have chosen to pray the rosary. Each form is going to take a different part of the rosary (listed below) and pray for a special prayer intention. This means that by the end of form time today, 6th form will have prayed a full rosary.
Each group will read out their designated prayers and hold their form’s prayer intention in their hearts during this time. You can choose a different reader for each prayer or have everyone recite some of the prayers together.
Find your form below…
B – The OLOL Trust and Becket Community
Prayer Intentions:
We Pray for the OLOL Trust and Becket Community, that they may continue to thrive in faith and grow in unity as they work together in their mission.
- Apostles’ Creed (Read aloud by one volunteer or together)
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.
2. Our Father (Read aloud by one volunteer or together)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be
thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us
not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
3. 3 Hail Marys (Read aloud by three volunteers or all together)

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
This week’s Celebration of the Word is planned and led by Mrs Coe and year 7. Please create a prayerful atmosphere in your form room before clicking play. Clear away any distractions, sit comfortably, perhaps dim the lights. Please join in with the responses on the screen!

Good morning, let’s start the day by checking in with today’s Lenten challenge…

We invite you to make the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Prayer is a personal encounter with God. One way in which we can encounter God is through music. Today, we invite you to listen to the worship song below and reflect on the words that speak to you.
The song is called “yesterday, today, tomorrow”. As you listen to the song, think:
Where did you see God yesterday?…
Where have you already seen Him today?…
Now, at the end of the song, think about where you might see God tomorrow?
Lent is a great opportunity to strengthen our relationships with God. Take on a small challenge today to look out for God more closely in your every day activities, when your walking to school, when your talking to your friends, when your sitting in the quiet or when your walking in nature…

Let us finish in prayer…
Jesus, You said, “When you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen.” In this season of Lent, help me to find quiet moments with You. Teach me to pray with honesty, with trust, and with love. Remind me that You are always listening, even when I don’t have the words.
Amen.
We end with the sign of the cross, In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Good morning, let’s take a quick look at today and Saturday’s Lenten challenge…

We invite you to begin this time of prayer by making the Sign of the Cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Today we are going to try journaling as a different method of prayer. Lift out your prayer journals, some pens or pencils and get creative with some doodling…
In a moment, play the music below and reflect on the following questions as you journal.
Step 1: Create Your Prayer Space
Take a moment to settle and feel comfortable. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and invite God into this time.
Step 2: Reflect with Music
As we play the music, reflect on where you feel closest to God. Imagine a place where you feel at peace—a place where you can be still and listen. It could be:
🌊 The sound of waves at the beach
🌳 A quiet walk in nature
🏡 A cozy spot at home
Now, draw or write about your peaceful place. Let your creativity be a form of prayer.
Step 3: Deepen Your Reflection
As you journal, think about these questions:
✨ What has been a blessing this week? (Even the small things!)…a conversation with a friend, a favourite meal, the sun shining, a good lesson, someone doing something helpful for you…
🙏 What does prayer mean to you? How do you like to pray?
💪 How do you handle difficult moments? Do you invite God into them? Do you have any worries that you can hand over to God this morning?
⏳ Do you make time for prayer? How can you find more moments to connect with God during Lent?
Step 4: A Lenten Challenge
Lent is a time to grow closer to God. Think about one small change you can make in your prayer life this week—maybe it’s saying a quick prayer in the morning, reflecting on a Bible verse, or simply taking a quiet moment to be still. Write it down as a commitment to yourself.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10
Closing Prayer
Loving God,
Thank You for this time of prayer and reflection. We offer You our thoughts, our drawings, and the prayers in our hearts. Help us to draw closer to You during this season of Lent, to find moments of stillness, and to trust in Your presence.
Guide us through the challenges we face, remind us of the blessings in our lives, and deepen our desire to seek You each day. May we carry the peace of this moment into the rest of our week.
Amen.
We end with the sign of the cross, In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Remember, this lunchtime to be particularly generous yourself and support CAFOD’s Family Fast Day by giving a £1 for some soup and a bread roll! Live simply so that others may simply live!

Today is CAFOD’s Family Fast Day
Each year during Lent, CAFOD holds a Family Fast Day, a time when Catholics are invited to give up a meal or eat a simple meal and donate the money saved to support CAFOD’s work. The focus this year is on supporting families like Lokho’s in Kenya, who face challenges due to drought and climate change.

Today we would like to test your knowledge about CAFOD with a quiz. Either get a piece of scrap paper to write your answers down or do the finger voting system!
