The Becket way focus of the week – EQUIPMENT

It is the duty of each student at The Becket to arrive to school with the equipment they need to learn. Each subject requires slightly different equipment but there is a core set that every student needs to have each day and that your tutor will check:

• Pen
• Pencil
• Ruler
• Calculator
• Conduct card

Checking equipment is an important job that all tutors are asked to do at the start of the day to make sure that lesson time and learning is not lost. Not having an item of equipment may seem like a small issue to you, however if each teacher has to give a pen to one student in each lesson that is 4,000 pens a year. This also takes time which could have been used for learning.

Preparation is key, therefore you should make sure you look over your timetable each night and check your bag is properly packed. There are consequences for those who do not bring their correct equipment and these are to teach us to be better prepared in the future

• Share with your tutor group – What routines do people have to make sure they have the correct equipment for each day?
• Incorporate it within your conversation with students during lesson or unstructured time.
• Include in any roll call that week.

The Word of the week is “Trinity”! We are in the 11th week of Ordinary Time.

Collective Worship and Catholic Life Rota

Monday – Year 7 in the Chapel and Year 8 in the Hall. The chapel will be closed as Ruth and Joe are on a training day. There will be no chaplaincy mission team meeting on Monday.

Tuesday – Year 9 in the Chapel and Year 10 in the Hall

Wednesday – Year 12 in the Chapel

On Wednesday, there is a Be Creative meeting at 12:30. Please drop by for the meeting, you can have your lunch after the meeting.

The Holy Spirit

Let us begin this time of prayer with the sign of our faith, the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Today, we’re taking a moment to “listen”. In the Trinity, the Holy Spirit is described as the breath of God, the whisper in the wind, the fire that lights us up, and the guide who walks beside us.
You might not hear the Spirit like you hear a song or a voice—but if you listen with your heart, the Spirit speaks in deep and quiet ways.

Today is about taking a quiet moment to think not just with our heads, but with open hearts. In the Trinity, the Holy Spirit helps us reflect, understand, and connect more deeply with God the Father, who created and knows us completely.

🟢🔴 Activity: “Pick a Side – Walk in His Way”

Setup
Designate one side of the room as “Agree” and the other side as “Disagree.” Once the statement is read out you’ll walk to one of the sides. If they’re unsure, they can stay in the middle. The aim is to get moving and thinking about how Jesus would act and how we might do the same.

On Friday last week, we concluded our Pentecost celebration week with culture day. Thank you so much to everyone who took part in the day and to the wonderful Respect and Diversity Team for planning the day and for helping us to celebrate the beautiful diversity of our school! The school was truly filled with joy and the spirit, and you all looked amazing!!

The Respect and Diversity also helped plan a culture quiz in the lead up. This was on last week’s resources but if you didn’t have chance to do the quiz last week because your form time was busy with other culture celebrations, you can give it a go this week!…

It’s time to go head to head with the other houses and forms and win some house points (especially as we approach the end of year house celebration when we will find out which house has won the house cup!)
