We are in the third week of Ordinary Time and the word of the week is Scripture! Sunday was called the “Sunday of the Word of God”.

The amazing 10N have created our Be Inspirational resources this week. Let’s head over to them now to see what we’re focusing on this week…

As we have heard in the word of the week video we 10N have chosen different pieces of scripture to reflect on each day this week.

Today we have chosen “Jesus heals the blind man”. We chose this piece of scripture as Jesus not only heals the blind man to physically see again but he also allows him to see the world differently. The man hears the voice of Jesus and is changed to live a better life. We are invited to listen to Jesus and change how we see the world.

When reading the scripture pick four students: narrator, blind man, Jesus and the people.

Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind

9 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. ² His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

³ “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. ⁴ As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. ⁵ While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

⁶ After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. ⁷ “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

⁸ His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” ⁹ Some claimed that he was.

Others said, “No, he only looks like him.”

But he himself insisted, “I am the man.”

¹⁰ “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked.

¹¹ He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.”

¹² “Where is this man?” they asked him.

“I don’t know,” he said.

Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ

This morning we would like to invite you to play a game as a form. This game is linking the idea of listening and identifying others through sound. The activity emphasizes how Jesus’ actions allowed the blind man to “see” in a new way, just as the participant will “see” through listening.

Setup:

1. Arrange the class so that one student can sit at the front of the room, facing away from their classmates.
2. Select a passage or key phrases from John 9:1-12. For example:
   • “Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam.”
   • “I was blind, but now I see.”
   • “Who healed you?”
   • “It was Jesus.”

How to Play:

1. Select the Guesser: Pick one student to be the “guesser.” They will sit at the front of the room, facing away from the class.
2. Choose a Speaker: Quietly point to a student in the group who will be the “speaker.”
3. The Speaker Reads: The chosen student will read aloud a part of the scripture passage.
4. The Guess: After the phrase is spoken, the guesser must try to identify who was speaking. They can take one guess per round.
5. Reveal the Speaker: If the guesser identifies the speaker correctly, they get to stay for another round. If not, the speaker becomes the new guesser.

Discussion After the Game:

1. Was it easy or difficult to recognise the voice of the person speaking?
2. Read or reflect on the scripture John 9:1-12 and discuss how the blind man relied on Jesus’ voice and instructions to find healing.
3. Reflect on how listening and faith can help us “see” in ways beyond our physical eyes.

Let us pray…
Dear Jesus,
Thank You for opening the eyes of the blind man and showing us that You bring light into darkness.
Help us to trust in You, even when we cannot see the way.
Open our hearts and minds to Your truth, so we can walk by faith and share Your love with others.

St. Thomas Aquinas is the RE departments saint and today it is his feast day! St Thomas Aquinas was a Catholic priest, philosopher, and theologian (someone who studies God) who lived in the 13th century. He is famous for combining faith and reason, showing that both science and religion can work together to understand the world and God. He wrote many books, but his most important work is the Summa Theologica, where he explained the teachings of the Church in a clear and logical way.

Aquinas believed that Scripture (the Bible) is the inspired word of God, and it is the most important source of truth for Christians. He taught that we should read and understand Scripture with both our hearts and our minds, so we can live out God’s message in our lives. For him, Scripture and reason work together to help us grow closer to God.

Your form tutor has a paper copy of St Thomas Aquinas. As a form, colour it in and place him on your prayer board!

Prayer Journal Task:
Take a moment to sit quietly and think about what St. Thomas Aquinas taught about Scripture. How can you use both your heart and mind when you read the Bible or pray?

Now, in your prayer journal, write down one Bible verse that you love. If you’re not sure we’ve got a few ideas listed below. Reflect on what it means to you and how it can guide you in your life.

Write a short prayer asking God to help you understand His Word more deeply and live it out in your daily life.

Here are five short Bible verses that you could be inspired by:

1. Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
   • This verse reminds us that with God’s help, we are capable of facing any challenge.
2. Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
   • A reminder that God has good plans for our lives and is guiding us toward a hopeful future.
3. Matthew 5:14 – “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”
   • Encourages us to be a positive example to others and let our faith shine.
4. Psalm 23:1 – “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
   • Reminds us that God provides and cares for us, just like a shepherd takes care of their sheep.
5. 1 John 4:19 – “We love because He first loved us.”
   • This verse teaches us that our love for others comes from God’s love for us.

These verses offer inspiration on strength, hope, love, and guidance—all themes that tie back to living out God’s Word in our lives.

Dear God,
Thank you for all the gifts you’ve given me. I know that everything I have comes from You, and I am grateful. Please help me to be more humble like St. Thomas Aquinas, who understood that true greatness comes from serving others and following Your will.

Help me to remember that I don’t need to show off my talents to be important, but instead use them to help others and give You glory. Help me to listen more and not always think I know best. Please help me to be humble in my actions, words, and thoughts.

Thank you for teaching me to be truthful about who I am, and to trust in Your love.
Amen.

Sometimes it might be difficult to listen to the right voices or when we might be hearing God’s voice, or the voice of others. We would like to put this to test in a fun game called “script or scripture”! The Parable of the Sower

That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat down. And the whole crowd stood on the beach. And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear.”

We pray together…

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of Your Word, which holds truth, wisdom, and life. Help us to prepare our hearts to be like good soil, open to receive the messages You sow in our lives. Teach us to listen with discernment, reflect deeply, and nurture what we learn so it may grow and bear fruit in our actions, words, and thoughts.

As we encounter truth in stories, scripture, and daily life, guide us to embrace it with understanding and to live in a way that reflects Your love and grace. Remove the distractions, doubts, and fears that hinder us, and strengthen us to cultivate faith that lasts.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Today we thought it would be nice to end the week by focusing on the kind words we can say to each other.

We are going to be reflecting on a piece of scripture from the book of proverbs.

The Book of Proverbs is a part of the Bible filled with wise sayings to help people make good choices. It teaches about being honest, kind, and hardworking while avoiding things like lying and laziness. Many of the lessons, written by King Solomon, show how trusting God and being wise can lead to a happy and good life.

With those thoughts and feelings after hearing the scripture, we would like to invite you into a time where we can share kind words and compliments with the people in our form.

Instructions:

1. Each student will receive a piece of paper with their name written at the top.
2. Pass the Paper Around:
   • Students will pass their paper to the person sitting next to them.
   • When you receive someone else’s paper, write one kind word or compliment about that person. It could be about their personality, something they’re good at, or something nice they’ve done.
3. Be Thoughtful:
   • Think about what makes that person special.
   • Write something kind and meaningful, like:
     • “You are always helpful in lesson.”
     • “You make everyone laugh in a good way.”
     • “You are great at sports/art/music!”
4. Keep It Positive:
   • No negative or silly comments—this is a chance to make everyone feel good about themselves.
5. Return the Papers:
   • Keep passing the papers around until everyone has written on all of them.
   • Once a paper gets back to its owner, they’ll see all the nice things that you have written.

Reflection Activity: After everyone has their papers back, take a moment to read the kind words. If anyone feels comfortable, they can share something that made them smile.

Dear God,
Thank You for bringing us together as a class. Help us to see the good in each other and share kind words that lift each other up. Teach us to be thoughtful, caring, and encouraging, so we can make our classroom a place of love and friendship. Bless our efforts to spread kindness and let our words bring joy to others.
