This week’s prayer resources have been planned by 9N – thank you!
This week we are praying for:
- For the 2025 Jubilee Year theme “Pilgrims of Hope” and the whole global church
- Those suffering from the effects of the wild fires in LA
- Peace and reconciliation in the Middle East
Please keep them in your prayers this week and don’t forget to add any suggestions for prayer intentions to the comments box below!
Key Stage Celebration of the Word and Chaplaincy Rota:
Monday: Y7 and 8 COTW in the Chapel
Tuesday: OLOL Trust Synod Day Trip – 8 students are attending to represent the Becket (please see Ruth’s email)
Wednesday: Y9 and 10 COTW in the Chapel
Thursday: No COTW, Y11 photos in the hall
Friday: Y11 COTW in the Chapel
Year 9 Jubilee Mass – Friday Period 1 and into Becket Reads – At 9:05am, year 9 need to head to roll call where they will be registered for the Jubilee Mass. Period 1 staff will meet them there. Form tutors will meet year 9 in the chapel at 10:00am at the end of the Mass.
Year 9 Mass Parts for Friday
If you are a year 9 tutor, please make sure that you seen the email from Joe regarding Mass parts for Friday’s Mass. Please create these during form time prayer and give any written parts to Ruth and Joe so that they can be gathered in the Mass folder for students who will be reading. Please contact Ruth/Joe for any support you need with the Mass parts!
Year 8 – “Jubilee Year” Chapel House Board Competition
Year 8 tutors – please see the email sent from Ruth regarding the year 8 display board competition. The deadline for the boards to be finished and up is Wednesday 22nd January! Please update Ruth if you are looking for specific paper resources. The boards have started coming down and they are looking wonderful!
Form Rooms and Prayer Boards
Please make sure that you have changed your Liturgical colour flip chart on your prayer boards to Green for Ordinary Time and please make sure to take down your old 20…24 Epiphany chalk Blessing signs and replace them with a new one for 2025 (created by year 7)! Staff can collect a new Epiphany blessing sign for your room from the staff room if you haven’t already.
Year 8 – “Jubilee Year” Chapel House Board Competition

We are in the second week of Ordinary Time and the word of the week is Discipleship!
The wonderful 9N have created our Be Inspirational resources this week. Let’s head over to them now to see what we’re focusing on this week…
As we heard in the video, 2025 is a special Jubilee Year in the church “PILGRIMS OF HOPE” and on Friday 24th January, year 9 will make up the congregation for our Jubilee year launch Mass to mark the start of it in our school. This morning (or the following form prayer if you run out of time) we would like to invite you to write you own prayer intention for this jubilee year.
Each form has an envelope with small pieces of paper to write on- these are available for staff to collect in Monday briefing.
When you receive your piece of paper, write down a prayer intention that you would like offering in the year 9 Jubilee Mass – no one will see this prayer intention, it will stay in the envelope, but it will be brought before the Lord and placed in front of the altar.
This prayer intention could be something you feel you need for your own pilgrimage or it could be something you feel the world needs at this moment or it could be for a person you know who is feeling lost, poorly or lonely who is in need of Hope.
Although the whole school won’t be attending the Mass in person, your prayer intentions will be offered for the year ahead in the Mass and you will be prayed for.
Once you have completed your prayer intentions please put all of the intentions into the envelope and drop them off in the chapel or in Ruth/Joe’s staffroom tray.
Let us pray…
Teach us, Lord, to follow in the footsteps of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who calls us to be His disciples. Help us to listen to His voice, to grow in faith, and to share His love with all those around us.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us begin with the sign of our faith, the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Today, 9N will lead us in a prayer called Lectio Divina, which means “Divine Reading.” This is a way of praying with the Bible, where we take time to listen to God’s Word and think about what it means for us.
Instead of just reading the Bible, this prayer helps us connect with God, hear His voice, and let His words guide and change us.
We invite you into a time of personal reflection. Take out you prayer journals and take time to write down anything you thought about during the Lection Divina prayer. Which words stood out to you?
What is Jesus asking of us today? Maybe He’s asking us to notice the needs of people around us—our friends, family, or community. He’s asking us to respond, even when it feels like we don’t have much to give.
In this Year of Jubilee: Pilgrims of Hope, think about how you can be part of this journey. Like the disciples, we’re called to carry hope to the world. This might mean sharing your time, talents, or even just being there for someone who’s struggling.
What are the “five loaves and two fish” in your life that Jesus is asking you to offer? How can you trust Him to use what you have to bring hope to others?
Let us end with prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for showing us through the miracle of the loaves and fishes that even small gifts, shared with love, can make a big difference. Help us to see the needs of those around us and to give generously from what we have—our time, kindness, and talents. Teach us to trust that You can multiply our efforts and turn them into blessings for others.
May we follow the example of the boy who shared his meal, knowing that when we give with open hearts, You can do amazing things.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

In your celebrations of the Word this week, every student will receive a prayer card with the Jubilee Year prayer on it, as a gift from the Diocese to help us to deepen our prayer life this jubilee year.
This morning, your task is to reflect on the Jubilee Year, think about it’s use of words and the theme “Pilgrims of Hope” and we would like you to create a beautiful A3-sized prayer poster for your form room. If you run out of time today, you can continue this prayer poster in the following days.
Write or print the Jubilee Year Prayer neatly in the centre of the A3 piece of paper and leave space around the prayer for decorations, reflections, and creativity. (Or if you have paper available, perhaps everyone could make an A4 size prayer each and some of them are displayed in your form room or could be stuck up around school?)
When decorating your jubilee prayer posters, you could use elements from the official Jubilee Year “Pilgrims of Hope” logo to inspire your design:
- The people – leaning on one another and standing in solidarity
- The cross – guiding the people in hope. The cross is a reminder of Jesus’ love and sacrifice
- The cross is bending towards the people, stretching out to them to offer guidance and the security of hope
- The colours of the figures symbolise the four corners of the world and that we are all children of God
- The water – reminds us that sometimes our faith journey is smooth and other times it is wavey and stormy
- The anchor is a symbol of hope, it links with the cross because Jesus is our hope, anchor and foundation
Around your prayer, you could write your own reflections, thoughts and annotations or quotes:
- What does it mean to be a pilgrim of hope?
- What does the scripture teach us about journeys or hope?
- How can we share hope with others who are in need?
When finished, display your poster prominently in your form room to remind everyone of our mission as disciples and pilgrims during this Jubilee Year.
The Jubilee Prayer
God our Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our saviour,
and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us this Jubilee Year a missionary heart for the coming of your Kingdom.
May the gift of your grace transform us, Pilgrims of Hope, into your missionary disciples, blessed with the gifts and talents you give us.
Strengthen us to share our Saviour’s message of love, joy and peace, with all the people we meet this year, so that we may help build up your kingdom on earth.
To you our God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be glory and praise for ever and ever. Amen.

Today’s prayer activity will help us to reflect on discipleship and our journey as “Pilgrims of Hope,” marking the start of the Jubilee Year in the Church. Though we can’t go on a physical walk, this prayer will help us reflect on the path we travel with God and each other.
