Achievement Assembly and Final Celebrations of the Word

Staff – please see email from Mr Udoh with full and finer details for the final day arrangements.

Each form will have something to prepare for our final Celebrations of the Word on Friday. Instructions for form groups will be available from Tuesday under a Liturgy Prep resource.

Monday:

Y7 achievement – Chapel 

Y8 achievement – Hall 

Tuesday:

Y9 achievement – Chapel 

Y10 achievement – Hall 

Wednesday:

Y12 achievement – Chapel 

Friday:

8:40 am – 9:15 am – Y12 Final Celebration of the Word 

11:15 am – 12:15 am – Y7 – Y10 Final Celebration of the Word 

P2 teachers take students down for roll call, leaving bags and coats in P2 classrooms. 

Y7 – roll call on tennis courts as normal 

Y8 – roll call on MUGA

Y9 – roll call under covered atrium as normal 

Y10 – roll call by Tech flower beds as normal

Teachers please then head to your own form’s roll call area or, if you don’t have a form to be with then support a Year group. 

At the end of Liturgy – P2 teachers head back to classrooms to meet students, collect bags and dismiss for lunch.

If you don’t have a P2 class to go back to, please help to supervise in the chapel/hall. All help with putting chairs away would be greatly appreciated.

Final Celebration Preparations – Friday 26th July

• Year 12 will be having their final COTW between 8:40am – 9:15am in the Chapel on Friday morning
• Year 7 – 10 will have their final COTW starting with roll call at 11:15am and finishing at 12:15pm for lunch

As is our tradition, every form group is asked to create a celebration reflection for a specific part of this academic year that will be presented as part of our final Celebration of the Word.

Forms 7T, 8B, 12B, 12E, 12N, 12P, 12R, 12T are also asked to contribute a prayer(s).

Please check the google doc below (or emailed by Ruth) to see what your form groups preparation task(s) are and please complete these preparations during form time prayer this week. There are also additional prayer resources on the Be Inspirational prayer resources for any forms that do not require to use every form time for their preparations.  

Encounter posters for the reflections for all form groups and prayer templates for 7T, 8B, 12B, 12E, 12N, 12P, 12R, 12T will be put at the front of the staff room to collect.

The word of the week is “Celebration”

We are in the 16th week of Ordinary Time and the Liturgical colour is green!

Celebration is a time to come together and rejoice in the good things in life. It is a time to give thanks to God for all his blessings. It is important to celebrate the good things in our communities and the times that we have shared together, especially as we celebrate our final week in school before the Summer break!

We remind ourselves that we meet in God’s presence as we make the Sign of the Cross.  In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

On Monday, we celebrate the feast day of St. Mary Magdalene, one of the most faithful and devoted followers of Jesus. In John’s Gospel, Mary was the first to witness the resurrection and to announce the Good News to the disciples. Because Mary Magdalene was the one who brought the news of Jesus’ resurrection to the apostles, she is called the Apostle to the Apostles. 

Did you know?…
In the Gospels, there are several women named Mary. For years, Mary Magdalene has been confused with several other women in the Bible, most controversially with the unnamed sinner in Chapter 7 of Luke.
Mary Magdalene has often been misunderstood as a temptress and someone who was unfaithful, yet all four Gospels actually agree that Mary Magdalene was faithful until the end.
Now it is becoming more known that Mary Magdalene’s more accurate role in the Church is as an apostle, witness, loyal believer and early Church leader and we are encouraged to reclaim Mary Magdalene to erode these injustices against her.

Mary Magdalene’s story reminds us of the joy and hope that come from knowing and following Jesus. Let us remind ourselves of that moment in John’s Gospel. Please choose a volunteer to read the scripture…

As we reflect on Mary’s life, let’s think about how we can celebrate our faith and share the Good News with others, just as Mary did.

In your form groups, discuss the following questions to help us to prepare for our week of final celebrations…

What does it mean to ‘celebrate’? What are some of the ways in which we can celebrate good things in our life?

How have we celebrated our faith and shared Good News with others this academic year?

What are some ways we can show our love for Jesus in our daily lives like Mary Magdalene showed her love and loyalty for Jesus?

Let us pray…

Loving God, today we celebrate the feast day of St. Mary Magdalene, a devoted follower of Jesus. May her example inspire us to live with faith, courage, and love. Open our hearts to your presence as we gather together and give us strength to share the good things you bring to our lives. Amen.

Good morning, we welcome God into this space as we make the Sign of the Cross.  In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

This week is all about celebrating our blessings, the good things that have happened to us and the achievements we have made in this last academic year.

Take a few moments to reflect on the past academic year. Think about the big and small achievements, the challenges you have overcome, and the growth you experienced.

Think about the person you were on that first day in September and how far you have come and how you have developed and grown since that day.

Use your prayer journal to write or draw the achievements that you want to celebrate from the last academic year. These could be academic milestones, personal growth, friendships made, clubs you’ve joined, ways you have showcased your gifts and talents, work you have produced or any other significant moments you have experienced in and out of school.

Be creative! You can write detailed descriptions, draw pictures, make lists, or even create a collage if you have materials.

Some questions to guide your reflections:

• What are some of the biggest achievements you are proud of from this year?
• Were there any challenges you faced that you successfully overcame?
• How have you grown personally, spiritually, or academically?
• What new skills or knowledge have you gained?
• Are there any specific moments or experiences that stand out to you as worth celebrating?

If you feel comfortable, share some of your reflections and achievements with your form group. Celebrating together can enhance the joy and gratitude of these moments.

Dear God, Thank You for the journey of this academic year. As we celebrate our achievements, we also look forward to the future with hope and trust in Your guidance. May we continue to grow and learn in the days to come. Amen.
